the Final Model (1:200)
these photos show the external faces of the community centre from within the compound.
Model (1:100)

Since the plan of this community centre is inspired by the honeycomb-hexagonal shapes, the spaces within the community centre appear to have a non-conventional 'boxed' room. These corners and edges give the habitats a sense of curiousity and ambiguity of the spaces, allowing for the occupants to further explore the spaces.

In addition, the different floor levels encourage for circulation within the interior of the building.

Mapping and the Concept

the IDEA:
The Coogee Community Centre is a meeting place for the local people.
This makes it a public space, and thus breaking the treshold between people; the public and the private.
With direct reference to the Bee community, this community centre has adopted the honeycomb structure in plan, facade, even structural members and to a certain extent, its programmes.
The spatial configuration has been designed so it varies in ceiling height, and floor levels, allowing for the spatial experience of the occupants to be enchanced.
The main idea of this design is that individual rooms of hexagonal structure comes to unity (community), consequently coming as a whole-bigger structure on its own. However, spaces such as the garage, audio and visual as well as the technical rooms are left isoated to show this juxtaposition.
Buildings within this site are connected by pathways so it allows for the people to access the community centre freely.

The red threads around the model shows the circulation path within the site.
The public can access the community centre from the different paths from the main road since there are no 'gates' or 'fences' around this site which sugget for the treshold and barrier between the prublic and private.
